For every great trailer that makes your tremble, there are 17 awful trailers shoved down your throat. We all share the same revulsion when we see an awful special effect or a sugar coated one liner. We all love to hate movie trailers. Without a doubt, 2005 had its fair share of bad trailers to make our through. So, here's my list of the 20 worst trailers of 2005.

(* - GHOST RIDER trailer was pulled from the internet after it leaked)

20. GHOST RIDER* 10. UNDISCOVERED
19. CURIOUS GEORGE 9. A SOUND OF THUNDER
18. DATE MOVIE 8. HIDE & SEEK
17. R.V. 7. BLOODRAYNE
16. UNDERCLASSMAN 6. REBOUND
15. BEWITCHED 5. BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2
14. MISS CONGENIALITY 2 4. HERBIE: FULLY LOADED
13. SUPERCROSS 3. EIGHT BELOW
12. D.E.B.S. 2. STEALTH
11. XXX: STATE OF THE UNION 1. HAPPY FEET

SPOTLIGHT - # 1
HAPPY FEET
It's not easy being the worst trailer of the year. However, this trailer sets the bar high for 2006. Not only does this preview introduce an awful song, but it also makes a few other distinctions. It successfully blemishes Robin Williams' career, comes across as slightly racist, and ruins any cultural reverence for movie penguins. All of this is achieved and this is supposed to be a trailer for a kids' movie!

This list is the conclusion of a four part series including the 100 Best Trailers: 100-61, 60-21, 20-1. Thanks for reading and I'll be seeing you in the Trailers Section!

The Happy Feet trailer appeals to 90% of the population because that 90% love the idea of dancing penguins. Lots of people on this site represent the 10% who think it's stupid. Besides, George Miller wrote the screenplay for Babe which was great. How this could be deemed worst trailer over unoriginal looking crappy cgi stuff like Hoodwinked and Chicken Little I don't know.

Most of those are more the movie ended up being horrible and the trailers made it look half-decent.

Happy Feet was not the worst by a long shot. Any one of the other 19 listed are much much worse.

i agree
the Happy Feet teaser trailer is awful. I saw it on TV and i was like "wtf is this movie about??". I feel ashame for such a terrible teaser.

do producers think that 'animated movie' + animals + music is enough? because the story seems extremely boring

i'm still trying to figure out how Happy Feet is slightly racist, besides that, not a bad trailer at all. Other than THAT, however the reviews are mostly spot-on.

I also agree with johnnymilkshark. Sure some teenagers and premature adults will spit out that curious george is too childish thus "idiotic" for them, but it looks great for kids and looks like a throwback to the animated movies I grew up with.

And I thought (and so did a whole lot of other people) that the Happy Feet trailer rocked. It was goofy and slick and more original than the average fairy tale cgi feast. I friggin dug it. The film might suck, but the trailer was fun.

Eight below
None of those trailers even come close to 8 below. I first thought it was a movie about the arctic struggles of scientists, but then it turns out to be a live action balto. Why is paul walker in this movie? Anyway, it sucks. But I was really disappointed in the RV trailer as well. The premise sounded great, and with barry sonenfeld directing, I thought it was going to be good, but the trailer i...

I agree that Happy Feet looks like a bad movie.

....However....

I did laugh when the Robin Williams penguin says to the one he's hugging, "No, you like it." It was just the classic Williams voice that struck my, and I guess many others funny bone.

Too easy...
It's very easy to take the crappiest movies of the year and just pick their trailers as the worst. Now, true, some of those are horrendous (Date movie, Happy Feet, A Sound of Thunder... And am I the only one who hated the Rent teaser?) But some are quite passable, like Stealth or xXx2... Because sometimes, it fun to see more stuff blow up than dialog.

I agree with johnnymilkshark
Curious George is gonna be a great adaptation to the children's books. What's not to like about it? Will Ferrell, although I don't like his movies makes the voice of the man in the yellow hat. It captures all the craziness and innocence that the books always gave. All in a couple of minutes. What's not to like?
The rest of the list is true though.

Don't hate on the monkey!
I don't see why Curious George was bad... I can understand the JoBlo audience not being into a strictly preschool kids flick but it bucked the trends of self-referential humor and overdone CG in animated flicks. Come on, you dug the books as kids... It's probably the most source-faithful kids flick I've seen in a while.

thank god
A bunch of my friends laughed out loud at the trailer for HAPPY FEET, saying it looked awesome.

I mocked them unmercifully.

I like the trailers to Bewitched, xXx: State of the Union and Hide and Seek. I LOVED the trailer to Stealth and thought the trailers to Miss Congeniality 2, RV, Rebound, Herbie Fully Loaded and Eight Below were ok.
